Our Volunteers: Mary Mahoney Professional Nurses - Detroit

For the second year in a row, the Mary Mahoney Professional Nurses - Detroit, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization provided nurses to serve as volunteers for the theatrical stage production, 4 Daughters Minus One, 2000 A.D. held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, in the Detroit Cultural Center on the campus of Wayne State University at the Community Arts Building. Although the production does not call for nurses, the director feels better when nurses are stationed in the green room with the actors and throughout the vicinity.

When Carman Brandon, President of MMPN-Detroit, received the request from Director/Producer, Timberly Robinson of Luvinwhatido Productions, LLC, she placed the need for available nurses as an agenda topic on their June / July business meeting and four nurses answered the call: Lynda Edwards, Pearlie Faulkner, Delores Harrison and Mavis Jones. One of the actors said, "it's nice to know a nurse is back here with us."

This year, the nurses were able to enjoy the show without attending to anyone, however, that was not the case last year. When the lead actress became ill prior to the start of ACT II, the crew immediately rushed one of the nurses to be by her side and the show went on thanks to our Mahoney Nurse volunteer and prayer!!!

The nurses arrived one hour before showtime and assisted in whatever capacity was needed including decorating tables under the leadership of Jackie Lanier-Ingram. The volunteers are instrumental to the success of our show. Timberly Robinson says, "I am thankful to everyone who supports us. This is our second year of having the production in Detroit and the Mahoney Nurses have been with us every step of this voyage."
