Padmaja Rao is a singer-songwriter who has been performing on stage since childhood. Padmaja’s love for singing spans across multiple genres and languages and she has performed, over the years, as both a solo artist as well as a member of a band.
In addition to singing at cultural events and for holiday-themed celebrations in New York City as well as across Metropolitan Detroit, Rao has performed the National Anthem at MGM Grand Casino for the Asian American Pacific Chamber of Commerce black-tie gala; at Ford Field for Davenport University’s Commencement (graduation) Ceremonies; and at University of Michigan for their annual cultural event. One of her greatest honors has been to perform Broadway musical numbers for Ms. Rosa Parks and her family. Combining her love for learning about – and immersing in - world cultures, religions, and history, Padmaja enjoys collaborating with artists from diverse backgrounds. Simultaneously, as a first-generation American of Indian descent, Padmaja has also acted in stage plays that have honored her roots and traditions.
She will play the Biblical role of Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist in the 2024 stage performance of 4 Daughters Minus One, 2000 A.D.
