In The Story of Job, Jarel portrays Zophar the Naamathite, one of Job’s friends whose confidence, humor, arrogance, and strong opinions make him an interesting and challenging character to bring to life. He also appears as Servant 2, giving him the opportunity to portray two very different emotional sides within the production.

For Jarel, joining the cast represents more than simply trying something new. It is an opportunity to step outside of his comfort zone, challenge himself creatively, and continue exploring interests that have been with him for years. He is especially excited to learn the craft of live theater and work alongside an experienced cast and production team.

Roots in Detroit

He is a Detroit native making his stage debut in The Story of Job with Luvinwhatido Productions. A graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in Business Marketing, Jarel has built his professional career around communication, sales, customer service, technology, and entrepreneurship. While much of his experience has been in the business world, creativity has always been an important part of who he is.

Outside of the stage, Jarel is an entrepreneur, husband, and father of three. His family is one of his greatest motivations, and he hopes his children grow up knowing that there is never a wrong time to explore a dream, learn something new, or discover another side of yourself.

His advice to anyone considering something outside of their comfort zone is simple: start before you feel completely ready. Sometimes the only way to discover what you are capable of is to give yourself permission to try.

Jarel is excited to welcome family, friends, and the Detroit community to experience The Story of Job and hopes audiences leave entertained, challenged, and thinking about the story long after the curtain closes.
